American Church History Sunday School Class - The Great Works of Christ in America - Introduction

American Church History Sunday School

Introduction to American Church History - Part II

Scripture References: Matthew 16:13-20

From Series: "American Church History Sunday School"

In this class, we will look at the godly examples of men like Cotton Mather, Jonathan Edwards, and George Whitefield, as well as lesser-known individuals such as Isaac Backus and Asahel Nettleton. We will seek to answer questions such as, Did the Puritans succeed in establishing a "city upon a hill"? What was the state of the church during the American Revolution? Could we see a third Great Awakening? Why were places on the frontier (such as our own east Tennessee) so opposed to the Doctrines of Grace? What led to America being a seedbed for cults in the 19th century? We will look at the good, the bad, and the ugly, all with a desire to glorify Christ in the present.
