Discipleship

Discipleship at Grace Community

To nurture those entrusted to us in personal discipleship, helping every man, women and child to be fully equipped for the works of service and to have the maturity necessary to recognize and refute error.

Col 1:28-29  We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.

Individual Discipleship

We must constantly be on the lookout for those whom the Lord is raising up to be discipled. This can take place either one-on-one or in a group setting.

2 Ti 2-2  You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

Ministry Discipleship

The best discipleship happens in the realm of shared ministry. We are equipped for the works of ministry as we get involved in service and discover our sin, weakness, lack of training, etc.

We desire to be a training church where each member has the opportunity to stretch themselves and grow in various aspects of ministry. This will mean mistakes and struggles but we must commit to bear with these.

Ga 6:9-10 – Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.

We expend our lives by being poured into the lives of others.

Counseling Discipleship

Every member of the church has struggles and difficulties to overcome. Biblical counseling will help the members of the body to honor Christ in every life situation through instruction in Biblical principles, not appeals to modern psychology.

1 Th 5:14 – We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

What is Partners?

Partners is a program designed to help people enhance their walk with Jesus – learning how to live an effective and pleasing Christian life.  The program is designed to get you personally connected on a weekly basis with a mature and growing Christian in order to help you advance in your understanding and application of ten biblical themes that are critically important in the Christian life.

Ten Biblical Themes That Are Critically Important in the Christian Life

  1. Being Sure About Your Relationship With God
  2. Deepening Your Knowledge of God
  3. Learning to Study the Bible on Your Own
  4. Developing an Effective Prayer Life
  5. Living a Life that is Led by the Holy Spirit
  6. The Importance of a Good Local Church
  7. Being Intentional about Biblical Fellowship
  8. Getting Actively Involved in Serving Your Church
  9. Sharing the Gospel with People Who Need It
  10. Striving to be Holy in an Unholy World

The study includes ten chapters and takes anywhere from 10 to 13 weeks.  The workbook chapters are to be studied and completed throughout each week, and each chapter culminates in a weekly meeting with your “partner.”  At your meeting, you will discuss the concepts studied during the week.

Each chapter in the Partners Workbook becomes the basis for your weekly meetings with your chosen partner, who has already been through the program.  The chapters will direct you to read sections of the Bible that relate to that week’s topic and you will be prompted to answer specific questions about the implications and application of those verses.  Then, when meeting with your partner, you will discuss the truths you have studied, seek to sharpen your understanding and grow in your devotion to Jesus Christ.

After the experience of being led through the challenging chapters in the Partners Workbook, the real growing and gratifying experience begins as you allow yourself to be used by God to guide someone else through the same material.

Partners One on One Discipleship” is  written by Pastor Mike Fabarez.  Please contact the church office if you are interested in participating in the Partners program.

Partners – An Effective Tool

The dynamic of personally discussing and applying these biblical truths in a one-on-one setting maximizes the opportunity for spiritual growth and accountability.  The material is highly adaptable to your current knowledge and experience in the Christian life.  Whether you are a new Christian or have been walking with Christ for many years, you will discover that the Partner’s experience will help you advance to the next level of maturity in your relationship with God.
