The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
Psalm 19:1Worship
To promote, encourage, and strive after worship of God our Father and His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
True Worship requires a high view of God
A high view of God is represented Biblically by a true fear of the Lord which may be defined as “the delightful, dreadful, consuming, reverential awe of God which drives the true believer to his knees in humble worship and raises him up to bring glory to God through faithful service.” The church exists to exalt God rather than man. Man is able to love God and have his true needs met only when God is given total preeminence.
Jeremiah 10:6-7 – There is none like You, O Lord; You are great, and great is Your name in might. Who would not fear You, O King of the nations? Indeed it is Your due! For among all the wise men of the nations and in all their kingdoms, There is none like You.
Matthew 22:37-38 – And He said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment.
This is a life-encompassing task and requires great sacrifice, but it is nothing in light of the great sacrifice that has been given for us!
Romans 12:1-2 – Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Corporate Worship
Gathering together as the body of Christ for mutual edification through the exaltation of God as He is revealed by His Spirit in His Word.
Hebrews 10:24-25 – and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
We have a vital commitment to edify one another lest any one of our number fall away from the faith! Part of drawing near to Christ is assembling together with other believers and worshiping with them.
Family Worship
Gathering together as a family for mutual edification through the exaltation of God as He is revealed by His Spirit in His Word.
Deuteronomy 6:4-8 – “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. “These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. “You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.
Personal Worship
Coming before God individually to be edified through exalting His character and work as revealed by His Spirit in His Word.
Joshua 1:8-9 – “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
